GREATER PHILADELPHIA SOCIAL INNOVATIONS AWARDS

The Greater Philadelphia Social Innovations Awards strategically involves Bucks, ChesteR, Delaware,Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties by hosting a selection and nomination committee from each county.

AWARD CATEGORIES

Priority will be given to individuals and teams representing community-based social sector organizations with annual budgets under $1 million, as well as independent changemakers working under a nonprofit fiscal sponsor or fiduciary. Individuals and teams affiliated with larger organizations may also be considered when the nominated work is community-driven, locally rooted, and within the spirit of innovation.

INNOVATIONS IN IMPACT, INFLUENCE AND PARTNERSHIP

SOCIAL INVESTORS: Innovative strategies driving capital to those who need it most.

Honoring individuals, organizations, and initiatives that are redefining the flow of capital for social good. This award celebrates innovative financial models—such as impact investing, community finance, and social enterprise—that drive resources to those who need them most and create measurable social and economic returns.

SOCIETAL IMPACT: Innovative approaches that respond to the needs of people and society.

Recognizing groundbreaking approaches that directly respond to the evolving needs of people and communities. This category honors changemakers who design inclusive, scalable, and sustainable solutions that strengthen social fabric, expand opportunity, and improve quality of life for all.

PARTNERSHIPS: Innovative cross-sector partnerships addressing complex social and environmental issues.

Celebrating cross-sector collaborations that bring together public, private, and community partners to tackle complex social and environmental challenges. This award highlights partnerships that exemplify innovation, shared leadership, and collective impact in advancing the common good.

ADVOCACY and POLICY CHAMPION: Protecting Rights and Advancing Justice

Celebrates individuals or organizations at the forefront of advocacy and policy innovation who are courageously leading efforts to defend and advance civil, human, and social rights. This award recognizes those shaping equitable policies, amplifying marginalized voices, and transforming systems to protect justice and dignity for all.

THOUGHT LEADERSHIP and CAPACITY BUIDLING: Strengthening the Social Sector

Acknowledges exceptional leaders and initiatives that expand the knowledge, skills, and strategic capacity of the social sector. This award celebrates those who foster innovation through research, learning networks, professional development, and leadership cultivation—empowering others to drive systemic and sustainable change.

INNOVATIONS IN SOCIAL MOBILITY

WORKFORCE and ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT: Innovative models leading to earning a living wage, economic freedom, and community economic development.

Honoring transformative programs and models that empower individuals to achieve economic freedom, sustainable employment, and pathways to prosperity. This category recognizes efforts that create equitable opportunities for skill-building, entrepreneurship, and community wealth generation.

EDUCATION ENTREPRENEURSHIP: Innovative ideas to develop new ways to advance education in novel and meaningful directions.

Recognizing creative pioneers in education who are reimagining how we teach, learn, and prepare the next generation. This award celebrates initiatives that expand access to quality education, foster lifelong learning, and advance student success through innovation and inclusion.

INNOVATIONS IN HUMAN SERVICES

COMMUNITY BEHAVIORAL HEALTH: Innovative models leading to emotional, psychological, and social well-being.

Celebrating innovative models that promote emotional, psychological, and social well-being. This award honors organizations and leaders who integrate mental health care, trauma-informed practices, and community support systems to create healthier, more resilient populations.

HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT: Innovative models leading to stable/permanent and sustainable housing.

Recognizing transformative approaches to creating stable, safe, and affordable housing while strengthening neighborhoods. This category celebrates models that advance community ownership, sustainability, and equitable access to housing as a foundation for health and economic mobility.

INNOVATIONS IN HEALTHY LIVING

HEALTHY COMMUNITIES AND ENVIRONMENT: Innovative models integrating Health Care with the Social Determinants of Health and/or models addressing fresh and clean air, drinking water, and sustainable land.

Honoring innovative initiatives that integrate health, environment, and community design. This award recognizes leaders creating healthier futures by addressing the social determinants of health, promoting clean air and water, and advancing environmental sustainability and justice.

HEALTHY FOOD ACCESS AND NUTRITION: Innovative providing affordable, accessible, and healthy food.

Celebrating programs and partnerships ensuring that all people have access to affordable, nutritious, and culturally relevant food. This award highlights efforts that combine innovation, equity, and sustainability to eliminate food insecurity and promote community health.

CHILDREN AND YOUTH: Innovative Models Supporting Children, Youth & Young Adults

Recognizes outstanding initiatives that improve opportunities, outcomes, and systems for children, adolescents, and young adults. This award honors individuals and organizations advancing innovative approaches to education, health and well-being, family and community supports, youth development, career pathways, transition to adulthood, youth engagement, and youth-led change. It celebrates solutions that elevate the voices of children and young people, strengthen the systems that support them, and create lasting opportunities for them to thrive.
